about
Another demo for the tape.
I'm not a singer and I can't stand my voice on that, so I let this song here waiting for being reused in a band context. Long story for this one; but for the ones who are interested by :
First, it started from a bass riff on late 2017. Drums recorded at the Live Factory in Lieusaint on early November. I came back to the same studio 2 days later with my bandmate Bobby in order to record some ending guitar tracks, and for a time, the song was more or less musically finished. Then, I was adding the lyrics and Bobby's part was too much melodic for the last sentence (even if it was a great shredding part I won't be able to learn in my whole life!).
So, I erased the leads and tried another things with a wha. I recorded it with my old Epiphone and for another time, the song was frozen in this configuration.
I had few time to dedicate to music this year, but I get some new tools to play with : an Helix LT, a Variax JTV and as I updated my old macbook I wanted to have a try on Logic Pro. In the same time, I came back to my roots, re-hearing my old GnR records and seing them on tour.
As I could have few hours to dedicate this week-end, I took some time to re-record the guitar lead, this time with the JTV. I re-record the mix of the guitar toggle switch with a wha, because I wanted to keep the idea, even if I agree it should have been better to have a real solo at the end.
Yet, can't improve much my voice. And I won't be able to. Punk rules.
So I add it to the tape as it is.
That's my mistake.
And for the ones that want to know more :
Gear kept on the recording : Tama Swingstar drums, Vintage Telecaster, Line 6 JTV-59, various basses (Fender ADPV, my own "O.Roquelle Signature" (sic :o) ) and the Fender VI). I won't mention IRig Microphone for the voice (is it useful?). No amps used (sad but true).
First recorded on iPad using Alesis Io-Mix and Auria Pro.
Re-recording performed through Helix LT and Logic Pro X.
I can't provide more details (well...maybe the use of a 3mm big stubby? :o) ).
Recorded in Lieusaint and Antony between November 2017 and August 2018.
lyrics
=================================
Jeff's stuck in the city, he waits on the wrong lane,
Still blocked at the green light, he's lost his nerves again
In downtown you pay for sins that you deserve
You can't escape it as her voice still remains :
Have you ever waited for me
Should I have waited for you
And then be apart from ourselves
Have you ever waited for me
Should I have bet on you
I admit it was all
My mistake
Jenn's down on the highway, she races against her pain
She rides to disappear, she's left her dream again
Turn right on the east street where all hope are misled
His voice still haunt her, can't turn it off, he said :
Have you ever waited for me
Should I have waited for you
And then be apart from ourselves
Have you ever waited for me
Should I have bet on you
I admit it was all
My mistake
